With a government that is always looking for more power than they will continue to conquest not caring about who they effect on their way. If their is a government that doesn't pursue power than the people will be free to govern themselves and live the way the want. The people cannot just rule their town without any set structure. There needs to be a set order with a leader who is very responsible. This leader should demonstrate that they are worthy of governing a large group of people. If there was nobody governing, then all of the towns and cities would be in total chaos. This would not work in today's society because there would be a lot disagreements. When governments try to take control it is either a success or a failure, there is no middle road. The best way the government can take control is by supervising and lending help but not actually taking control. Setting goals and guidelines will keep projects on track but over involvement will slow progress and eventually hurt the goal. If a goal is trying to be reached without any government there is a very different tactic. "The ends justifies the means" is another famous quote that comes to mind in this instance. The problem with this is that with no guidelines there can be any number of harmful problems that will arise from the means of which the goal is achieved. There is a man in charge, the President, and he controls mostly all important aspects in our country.  I believe in this quote because even though the government needs to have some say in what the people can or cannot do, the people should have some right to make decisions for themselves. Government that governs the least gives people more freedom and I believe that people on their own won't be as bad as they are now. If we had less rules people would be less unruly. For example it is illegal to drink alcohol in America under the age of 21, but because children like to rebel they do it anyway. But in Europe, people are allowed to drink at any age and drinking becomes less of an issue.
