Jodi Picoult is a very controversial author who writes about topics not discussed frequently in society today. The Pact is about two high school lovers who form a “pact” to commit suicide together. Chris Hart and Emily Gold have been neighbors since they were born and the families are best friends. They have pictured their children growing old together, but the dream came shattering down when the emergency room calls; Emily is dead. But Chris is still alive? I recommend this book to an older reader who loves to be left at the edge of his/ her seat wanting to read more.
