Cam’s marriage has an absence of affection and just had to do it.

Cameron:
Cameron is the chief of police in his Massachusetts town. The men in Cameron's family, at one point in their life have been a chief of police. Cameron felt obligated to become a cop since all the men in his immediate family were. So far in the book it seems that Cameron has good intentions because he is providing an attorney for his cousin, and is trying to help him out.
Allie :
Allie is married to Cameron, who so far in the book is a little discomforted that Cameron is trying to help his estranged cousin at a murder trial.
Mia:
Mia is a woman who comes into Cameron and Allie's life. She is new in town and is looking for a place to stay. She ends up spending the night at Cameron and Allie's home. Cameron claims that he knows the woman but can't remember where he has seen her before. Cameron and Mia have an indiscretion when Allie is working late.
Jamie:
Jamie is Cameron's estranged cousin who comes to Cameron's town to try and figure out the mess he is since his wife passed away.
Summary
During our first book discussion the group talked about what we liked so far in the book, what characters we liked, and which character we thought had secret motives. As a group we came up with the conclusion that Mia, the woman who has walked into Cameron's life has a secret motive. We also discussed what might happen in the rest of the book and which characters might have problems with one another.
