Questions:

1. Why is the play named All My Sons?
The book is about Joe Keller's sons and what happens to them once one is drafted into the war and the other finds out his father could be partially responsible.
2. What were Chris and Keller dishonest about? To whom and why?
Chris and Keller were dishonest about Larry to Ann. Ann thinks that Larry still could be alive but Chris and Keller, who know about the faulty parts, know he is most likely dead.
3. What girl does Chris and Larry both love and why will his mother not approve?
Chris and Larry both love Ann, Steve Deever's daughter. Mother does not approve of Chris liking Ann because she thinks Larry is still alive.
4. Why does mother believe that Larry is still alive and why don't Chris and Keller?
Mother thinks Larry is still alive because his memorial tree was blown down which she thinks is a sign and also because after making a horoscope she finds out that Larry disappeared on a "favorable day" which means he is probably not dead. Chris and Keller think he is dead because they know about the defective plane parts which caused the crash.
5. What did Ann's father do and why could Larry be involved?
Ann's father welded the broken plane parts and said that they were fixed. Larry could be involved because the faulty parts caused over twenty plane crashes, one of which could have been Larry's plane.

Character Analysis

Joe Keller - He seems to be a very relaxed and funny guy. He has gotten over the fact that his son has dad and has come to terms with it. He is ok with the fact that his other son Chris is going to marry Annie. Keller also likes to joke around with all the kids in the neighborhood by telling them that they are all cops and have to patrol the street. Keller has also been to jail, but the kids all think its because he was the detective rather than the convict so they listen to him.

Kate Keller - A very loving mom who isn't willing to admit that her son is really dead. She will not give up home and insist that he is simply missing. She uses an example of a man returning after being missing for many years to keep her going. When a tree that her son Larry had planted split she cried for hours in her kitchen. She does not approve of her other son Chris marrying Annie even though she likes Annie.

Chris Keller - A normal man who has fallen in love with Annie and convinced her to move back from New York so they can be together. He has proposed to her and she has accepted, but this may not happen as long as Kate doesn't approve.

Ann Dever - She moves back from New York so she can be with Chris. She was about to get married, but Chris began writing to her so she broke it off. It is hinted that she use to go out with Larry before he went missing in the war. She seems like a very nice lady and is always getting complimented as to how beautiful she looks.

Summary:

During this meeting, we discussed the first half of the play. However, Joe had a guidance meeting and he missed out on the fun of our "fancy meeting". We ate a variety food, such as popcorn, pizza, and thin mints. Eric, Adam, and Matt however discussed what they enjoyed in the play. They all enjoyed the plot and the main characters, which were Chris and Keller. We argued about who our favorite characters were in the novel, but we decided that Chris was our favorite because we could somewhat relate to him. This meeting was quite successful and we cannot wait until our next meeting.
